What’s Beef?
Let me first start by saying Happy New Year to everyone and it is my prayer that 2012 is a year of prosperity for everyone. Now that I’ve got that out the way, let me address this Common vs Drake “beef.” Common released, in my opinion, one of the best albums of 2011. Prior to it’s release, he leaked a few songs: “Ghetto Dreams” w/ Nas, “Blue Sky” and “Sweet.” It is the latter that became talked about for it’s raw lyrics and possible shots taken at Drake.
Fast forward to 2012, Rick Ross releases his “Rich Forever” mixtape, which I strongly suggest you download. On the mixtape is a song called “Stay Schemin” in which Drake subliminally responds to Common. His verse opens with “It bothers me when the Gods get to acting like the broads.” The “God” being Common. This morning Common’s remix hit the net and has everyone talking. On the remix he took it a step further by actually calling out Drake by his name, while delivering one of the best “beef verses” since the Jay vs Nas days.
